Indonesia Welcomes Cutting-edge Falcon 8X Aircraft, Boosting Air Force Power

TNI AU

Citizen, English - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) enhances its capabilities with the arrival of the advanced Falcon 8X jet, registration A-0801. As part of the Air Defense System modernization, the aircraft, welcomed by Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo, strengthens Indonesia's air prowess. The Falcon 8X A-0801 joins Air Squadron 17 at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, serving as a Command and Control (C2) aircraft for TNI/TNI AU leadership.

Built by French company "Dassault Aviation," the Falcon 8X boasts remarkable features, including a 11,945 km range, short takeoff and landing capabilities, a modern cockpit design, enhanced engine performance, larger fuel tanks, and optimized structural design. Notably, it can achieve a speed of 0.9 Mach Number, surpassing 500 knots or 900 km/h.

The arrival of Falcon 8X is part of the initial contract for Interim Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA), which includes 6 Rafale fighter jets. This marks the beginning of a larger procurement contract for a total of 36 Rafale aircraft.

Previously, the Air Force received interim Falcon 7X and 8X for training purposes in December 2022. These aircraft played a crucial role in training pilots, mechanics, cabin crew, and supporting limited operational exercises.

"Dassault Aviation" delivered the Falcon 8X to Indonesia with pilots from Air Squadron 17, including Flight Lieutenant Priandaru and Flight Lieutenant Cessa. The 8-hour flight from Dubai to Indonesia signifies a significant milestone in the country's air defense capabilities.
